My choices for professional development this year will include leadership topics. Recently, I developed an interest in educational leadership, specifically school improvement. In thinking about plans after I complete my master’s degree, I plan to pursue either a specialist’s or doctorate in educational leadership. Griffin RESA is an educational service agency that provides professional development for educators year-round. In May, I plan to attend the session titled “Using Games to Teach Mathematics.” I love integrating both technology and games into the curriculum because it excites the students. I look forward to sharing the strategies and concepts I learn with my colleagues. Mindset is offered about a dozen times per year, but I am planning to attend this summer when I have more time. Mindset training offers educators preventative strategies and physical containment techniques. I think all educators can benefit from this training, especially with all of the issues we encounter with our students. On March 2nd, participated in a webinar titled “How School Leaders Create a Results-Focused Learning Environment.” Topics in this webinar includes: establishing rigorous expectations for students, responding to individual student’s needs, and the diversity of the students by creating effective systems of collaboration. Data is vital to the success of a school. One of the most important pieces I took away from this video is the concept of aligning data with realistic student expectations, instructional leadership, and school improvement strategies and activities. As I near the completion of this master’s program, I will research more opportunities to participate in professional development focused on educational leadership and technology. Below is an updated table with new information highlighted.
